THE ALOHA STATE: Last week, the U.S. Department of Ed made a note of Hawaii’s “huge progress” implementing education reforms as part of the $75 million Race to the Top campaign. But Hawaii’s success with students doesn’t end at grade 12. To prepare students for college and career success, the Hawaii P-20 Partnerships for Education is hosting the "55 by '25" campaign. Translation: the campaign seeks to have 55% of Hawaii’s working age adults in possession of a two- or four-year college degree by 2025, and 100% of those adults as career-ready. The mandate, among other things, arms students with the MyFutureHawaii platform, which allows learners to align academic performance and aspirations with college and career opportunities.
