PROVOCATEUR: What if instead of going to college for four straight years, you had six years that you could use anytime you wanted? After all, shouldn't new learning opportunities and tools afford us the luxury of being able to hop back and forth between school and work? That's one of the four "provocative" ideas posed by Stanford's d.school, where students spent a year exploring ways to redesign the undergraduate experience. Other projects can be seen on this "Stanford 2025" website. To borrow one of the taglines used in one project: Learning "isn't just a time in your life, it's a lifetime."
