ESS, a Knoxville, Tenn.-based K-12 staffing provider, has bought Enriched Schools, a New Orleans-based substitute staffing service focused on charter schools nationwide.
Founded in 2000, ESS made the acquisition to boost its services for charter schools. The company claims to service over 800 school districts in 27 states, serving 2.5 million students, according to a statement Friday.
Founded in 2012, Enriched claims to have over 150 charter school partners and over 1,000 educators across its network. Its founder, Andre Feigler, was named to Forbes’ 2015 “30 Under 30” cohort.
Earlier this year, ESS bought Proximity Learning to add more virtual substitute teachers to its offerings. Another company that connects substitute teachers with open spots, Swing Education, raised $15 million last year.
