Blue Canoe, a Bellevue, Wash.-based provider of an app for employees to learn English, has raised $2.5 million in equity financing from 20 investors, according to U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filings. Tsingyuan Ventures led the round, according to GeekWire. Qualcomm Ventures LLC, Fantail Ventures and others participated.
Founded in 2016, Blue Canoe has 10 employees and $3.9 million in total venture raised, according to GeekWire. The company uses colors to help brains recall vowel sounds and hand clenching to help learn where to stress word pronunciation as part of its lessons.
Other language-learning companies to capture investor interest this year include DaDa, Lirica and Elsa.
