MyBuddy.ai, a San Francisco-based startup behind an AI-powered English language learning tool, has raised $1 million in a seed round from LETA Capital.
Founded in 2017, MyBuddy offers an app that delivers vocabulary, pronunciation and listening comprehension exercises through game-like activities. Earlier this year, the company merged with Edwin, which developed chatbot technology for English language learners.
In a statement, MyBuddy claims it has more than 20,000 paying users, with a growing footprint in Asia, Europe and Latin America. The new funds will support the company’s expansion into these regions, as well as the development of a mini-course combining English language and health education.
