HELLO HELIO: HelioCampus, a Bethesda, Md.-based provider of analytic services to help higher-ed institutions with admissions, enrollment, student success and financial planning, has acquired ABC Insights, a developer of cost-benchmarking tools used by colleges and universities. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Both companies trace their roots to universities: HelioCampus launched in 2015 at the University System of Maryland, and currently works with more than two dozen community colleges and universities. ABC Insights, founded in 2014 at the University of Carolina at Chapel Hill, boasts more than 50 higher-ed institutions in its network of members that use its services to inform their financial planning.
According to a spokeswoman, HelioCampus will be bringing onboard all staff from ABC Insights; ABC’s co-founders will also assume new leadership roles: Steven Beisser will serve as vice president of operations; Dr. Paul Friga as vice president of strategy and Joe Rice as vice president of technology. “Operations at each company will continue ‘business as usual’ for the next six months as the teams work together to thoughtfully merge into one unified organization, she added.
