Dr. Alyson Mike is the Senior Director, Educational Technology at New Teacher Center, a national organization dedicated to improving student learning by accelerating the effectiveness of new teachers and school leaders. Along with her team, Alyson leads the implementation and support of all ed tech used by New Teacher Center’s partners and programs. She joined the organization in 2007 with a focus on developing engaging and effective online communities of practice and supporting beginning teachers in rural areas.
Alyson brings over twenty years of experience as a high school and middle school teacher to her work at New Teacher Center, and was most recently a successful National Board Certified middle school science teacher. Her teaching experience was concentrated primarily in East Helena, Montana, a small industrial town with a large percentage of at-risk students.
Named Montana's Teacher of the Year in 2004, Alyson was also the recipient of the Milken Educator Award in 2003 and received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching in 2001. Her area of research and expertise is professional learning, particularly through online learning. She remains actively involved in statewide service in science education.
