Angela Cooper teaches math at Research Triangle High School, a STEM charter school in Durham, North Carolina. Ms. Cooper has taught in a K-12 classroom since 2006 and has taught math classes ranging from third grade to calculus. She believes that motivation and cognition together drive learning and uses her experiences from college and graduate school in cognitive psychology to help support her teaching in the classroom. Ms. Cooper is currently exploring the idea that the foundation of math education lies not in teaching algorithms, but helping students discover the language of math and how to communicate with it. She can be found on Twitter at @angecooper and (sometimes) keeps a blog of her classroom goings on at http://becomingcoopedup.blogspot.com.
