Carol Pepper-Kittredge is the statewide program director of the CCC Maker initiative, a network of 35 California community colleges building makerspace communities, designed to drive innovation in education and produce graduates who are prepared for STEM/STEAM careers in the creative economy. Carol has worked in workforce and economic development initiatives for 30 years. Sierra College, which serves as the CCC Maker fiscal agent, has a public-private partnership with Hacker Lab and is the first community college in the country to partner with a private makerspace and coworking space. Pasadena City College, which serves as the technical assistance provider for the initiative, is the longest-running community college makerspace in the state, recently celebrating its fifth birthday.
