Currently, Ellen Dorr serves as the Director of Instructional Technology for Renton School District. She works with schools, administrators, and teachers to make the instructional shifts necessary to leverage high-potential digital resources in a systemic, sustainable way. In addition, she works with specific schools as the lead for Race to The Top Project 4, and is supporting the use of a learning management system throughout the district.
Previously, Ellen served as the Learning Technology Manager for Highline Public Schools, helping schools transition into blended learning environments via the use of various instructional technologies. She identified and planned implementation of high-potential digital tools that meet specific learning needs and evaluated data on these tools, while also supporting integration of this instructional model across the district. Ellen started her career in education with over a decade as an English/Language Arts teacher in a low-income, high-diversity middle school, where she implemented a blended learning model in her classroom and served in various leadership positions, including as the Blended Learning Specialist, where she helped teachers differentiate in their classrooms and focus on small groups in order to personalize instruction.
