Ellen Duke Spears is the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in the Fair Haven School District in Fair Haven, NJ. She comes from a rich background in education. She received her bachelor’s degree in English from Dartmouth College and a masters from Teachers College, Columbia University in Curriculum and Instruction. She continued her formal education to become certified as supervisor, principal and chief school administrator and continually attends workshops to remain current in her field. Before coming to Fair Haven, she worked in a private school in NYC and several other suburban districts in NJ. While having provided training to other districts on a variety of topics, she has devoted the majority of her educational career to moving her district to a more progressive curriculum and instructional methods. Of particular note is the model world language program in the district as well as her appointment as supervisor of the year by the NJDOE.
