Janelle Milanes is an educator, writer and is the college essay program manager for Write the World, a nonprofit writing organization for teens. She has hosted writing workshops and mentored hundreds of students to help them achieve postsecondary success. Her experience in education and in narrative writing has equipped her to guide young writers through the college essay process and empower them to share their stories.
Milanes has authored novels that have been featured in the New York Times book review and listed as part of Bank Street College's Best Children's Books. Previously, she worked at Simon & Schuster and taught in K-12 schools for ten years.
Originally from Miami, Florida, she received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature at Davidson College and a master’s degree in special education at Adelphi University.
