Jen Reidel has taught social studies in secondary education for 24 years. She has experience within traditional high school settings as well as her current position at Options High School, an alternative high school in Bellingham, Wash.
OHS serves students who need a non-traditional pathway to meaningful education through small class sizes and individual attention, and seeks to engage students using a project-based learning model focused on authentic outcomes.
Jen is a James Madison Memorial Fellow for Washington State (2002), an American Civic Educator Award recipient (2014), served as the Library of Congress Civics Teacher in Residence in Washington, D.C. (2019-2020), and is a Golden Apple Moment Award recipient (2021). Most importantly, she spends her days investing in students, watching her family compete in “Just Dance,” and coaxing her garden to grow.
