Marcelle Davies-Lashley is the lead social worker and mental health provider at Brooklyn Lab Charter School and a native of Brooklyn, New York. Her area of expertise is birthed out of her hunger for justice and commitment to families and communities. Davies-Lashley, the youngest of seven children born to West African parents from Liberia and Sierra Leone, started her journey in academia as a substitute teacher for the New York State Department of Education in Brooklyn. The granddaughter of missionaries, service and music have been the work of her life.
Prior to teaching and facilitating parent workshops in New York City, Davies-Lashley served as president of the Presidents’ Council governing 26 parent teacher associations in District 13 from Bedford Stuyvesant to Brooklyn Heights.
Upon receiving a full scholarship from Long Island University to complete her undergraduate work, she was introduced to social work policy and the rest is history. Davies-Lashley's work is rooted in the mental well-being and psychological safety of both children and adults.
