Nia Ariel Davis Sigona works to advance Higher Learning Advocates’ policy priorities and strategy with government, private, and public partners. She brings varied perspectives and experiences from the P-20 education landscape, which include guiding the foundation of a state-based initiative to support baccalaureate-seeking community college transfer students with The Aspen Institute’s College Excellence Program, leading a policy and legal strategy team at the District of Columbia Public Schools, and examining equity and accountability with the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools.
Nia holds a B.A. in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) from the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where she focused on education law and policy. Before attending law school, Nia taught English as a Second Language with WorldTeach in Quito, Ecuador and proudly served as a City Year corps member in New York City.
