Quinlan O’Grady is a third grade teacher at Schmid Elementary School on Chicago’s south side, where she has been teaching for the past nine years. During her tenure at Schmid she has successfully built meaningful school partnerships, connected mentors with scholars, championed school-wide events and curricula that foster college and career readiness and created a classroom environment that fosters growth, success, and the social well-being of all of her scholars.
She is currently pursuing a doctorate in special education, as a member of Project SURGE, Special Education Urban Research for Greater Equity, at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her research is focused around the power of teacher-student relationships on student behavior, growth and achievement.
