Sharon Danks, MLA-MCP, is founder and CEO of Green Schoolyards America, a national nonprofit that collaborates with school districts and public agencies to build systemic programs that transform paved school grounds into park-like green spaces that improve children’s wellbeing, learning and play while contributing to the ecological health and resilience of our cities.
Prior to starting Green Schoolyards America, Sharon co-founded the International School Grounds Alliance and the design firm Bay Tree Design. She is an Ashoka Fellow, and author of the book Asphalt to Ecosystems: Design Ideas for Schoolyard Transformation (New Village Press, 2010).
Green Schoolyards America is a founding partner of the National COVID-19 Outdoor Learning Initiative.
