Tanner Higgin is a senior education technology researcher at WestEd, where his focus is on reimagining edtech research, development and implementation. Previously, he spent 10years at Common Sense Media, where he helped to build and then lead the editorial team behind their edtech ratings, reviews and advice for teachers. Higgin also worked atGameDesk on a small creative team that developed innovative game- and play-based learning experiences. Prior to working at education nonprofits, Higgin earned a doctorate in English from the University of California, Riverside, where he published research on digital media and culture, while teaching courses on writing and media literacy.
