Taylor Haun came up through the Texas band system, taking up percussion at age 12 and continuing all through school. He was a part of many ensembles in Plano, TX and toured China in 2008 with the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra Wind Symphony. In 2013, Taylor graduated from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. At IU, Taylor had the opportunity to study with many world-class faculty Including Michael Spiro, and David Baker. As a performer, he played classical, jazz, brazilian, afro-cuban, rock, electronic, and more. During his time at IU he was part of 5 world premieres, and a performance with the IU World Percussion Ensemble at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC). Taylor produces music for other artists and performs with his electronic music project “Prime Color”.
From 2013 to 2015 Taylor taught in Plano ISD as the Clark High School percussion instructor as well as a part of the music staff at Grammy Winning Plano Senior High School. This role included work with 10 ensemble and 40 private lesson students. Many of his students saw success in performance and acceptance to top music schools like University of North Texas. Taylor developed lasting relationships with his students and a passion for teaching kids.
In 2015 Taylor moved to Austin and taught private lessons in Leander ISD at Rouse High School, Stiles Middle School, and Wiley Middle school. Wiley Middle School was selected to perform at the 2016 PASIC as the middle school Call For Tapes winner. The Stiles Middle School Band was awarded the 2016 National Wind Band Honors Mark of Excellence. In Leander ISD, Taylor started teaching more students composition and music production. This came for a desire to match each student with their unique talent and relationship to music.
In 2015 Taylor started teaching music production and in 2016 launched ODO Sound. ODO Sound develops the next generation of music makers by empowering them with digital music making and showing them their connection with the world. In addition to classes and private lessons, ODO Sound offers free online materials for learning to create music electronically and share it with the world. This project comes from a passion for empowering young people and a desire to connect the vast creative intelligence of the youth with powerful music tools and networks available today.
