Wendy Castillo is a lecturer at the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs, where she teaches econometrics and research methods. Previously she was the senior director of equity, data and impact at the National Urban League, where she led data strategy and program evaluation efforts. One of the cornerstones of Castillo’s research approach is her expertise in applying Quantitative Critical Race Theory (QuantCrit). Castillo has experience with quantitative research methods, including large-scale randomized controlled trials, meta-analysis, cost analysis, and measurement design and validation. She is currently writing a book on the applications of QuantCrit that builds on her prior research.
Earlier in her career, Castillo taught elementary school in Miami, Florida through Teach for America and created an after-school dance club for students in her community. She credits both as influential experiences in her professional career. Castillo earned her Ph.D. in education policy at the University of Pennsylvania. She also holds a master’s degree in education from the University of Miami and a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Brown University.
