The LEAP Learning Framework is LEAP Innovations’ implementation tool that helps connect innovation and education to reinvent the one-size-fits-all system that, in reality, doesn’t fit many.
The framework was developed alongside leading experts, school leaders and teachers to provide educators with a clear definition of personalized learning and the strategies to put it into practice. The components of the framework:
- Learner Connected: Learning happens everywhere and includes family and community.
- Learner Focused: Learners understand their strengths, interests and how they learn. Teachers work with this information. The focus goes beyond academics and considers social-emotional development, health, culture and more.
- Learner Demonstrated: Learners are allowed to progress at their own pace based on demonstrated competencies.
- Learner Led: Learners take ownership of their learning, co-designing their experience and curriculum, and assessing, monitoring and reflecting on their progress.
Each component affects how educators and schools support students. LEAP’s growing video collection shows how Chicago educators are putting strategies from the LEAP Learning Framework into practice in their classrooms. Accompanying strategy guides help educators replicate these successes.
LEAP Collaboratory helps educators, tech innovators and other stakeholders share and discover strategies in person. The Collaboratory is in Chicago with a calendar of events—from Appy Hours to Tinker Events—that make real-time, immediate feedback available.
